The Why
So why start a blog about a baseball team in 2025? There have been very few constants in my teenage and adult years. One of those constants was employment and another was the San Francisco Giants baseball team. Recently, my employment status involuntarily ended after having worked since the early 1990s. Now I find myself a bit confused and lost on what my next steps are (I am in my 50s). After a bit of reflection and realizations, I am leaning on the latter constant in my life for support.
The Goal
The major goal is just to write about the team on a consistent basis and provide information that others might find useful or entertaining. Admittedly this is a selfish and therapeutic adventure that will, most likely, only benefit me and will end with a whimper and not a bang. But let’s roll the dice and see where this takes us.
The History
My earliest memories of baseball, outside of little league, was going to Candlestick Park with my family and listening to my parents teach me about baseball. While the lessons on baseball were great and helped me become a good baseball player, I feel I became a better overall person having experienced the Giants and “The Stick” in its hey-day. My kids will never know the feeling of eating a frozen malt during a night game then chasing it with a scalding hot chocolate while booing the living hell out of the Dodgers. My family’s Croix de Candlestick collection was elite (middle finger to the thief that stole it), I know what the inside of Candlestick jail looks like, and my growth as a human is very similar to the growth of the game and team over these last few decades. In my opinion, there is no better organization or team to align yourself for decades.
The Future
Watch the games, read the articles, write about it, post it. Nothing too complicated but no lollygagging allowed.
The Who
Just another Giants fan making their way till the lights go down.
